About Ken Wood
I currently live near Denver, NC on Lake Norman, but I grew up in Jacksonville, Fla. I had always planned to live in Florida, but I fell in love with North Carolina during my surgical training at Duke in the early 1970's. I served in the U. S. Navy as a medical officer after specialty training in 1976 and then practiced in Charlotte, NC and the Lake Norman area until recently.
I've been painting, oil on canvas, for about 50 years, mostly during a busy spine surgery career. My paintings cover a very broad range of subjects; sailboats, landscapes, seascapes, light houses, urban 'scapes', still life, some whimsical (for grandchildren's rooms), dogs, and much more. My best critic has been my wife who has selected several of my paintings to hang in our home--which flatters me greatly. Some of them are displayed in the homes of friends and family.
Since retirement from active medical practice in December, I've had more time to devote to painting (and to sailing, which is also a passion).
I'm using professional high resolution photography to produce the digital data for these prints. I will be adding new paintings each week for a while.
